Math 7 Accelerated

Course Overview

Ratios and Proportional Relationships

  • Analyze proportional relationships and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems.

The Number System

  • Apply and extend previous understandings of operations with fractions to add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational numbers.

Expressions and Equations

  • Use properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions.

  • Solve real-life and mathematical problems using numerical and algebraic expressions and equations.

Equations and Inequalities

  • Extend knowledge of equations to include multistep equations and inequalities.

  • Model and solve real-life problems involving systems of equations.

Statistics and Probability

  • Use random sampling to draw inferences about a population.

  • Draw informal comparative inferences about two populations.

  • Investigate chance processes and develop, use, and evaluate probability models.

Materials

Materials you should have with you in class every day are:

  • Two Pencils

  • Eraser

  • Interactive Notebook (composition)

  • Math Folder (pocket folder with two pockets)

  • Glue Stick

  • Binder Paper

–(p/q) = (-p)/q = p/(-q)

Numerical Relationships

  • Investigate patterns; study powers and roots; study exponents and scientific notation. Apply this knowledge to practical situations.

3x + 2y = 5

4x + 6y = 7

Geometry

  • Extend knowledge of two- and three-dimensional figures, including composite figures, to solve real-world problems involving angle measures, area, and volume.

  • Explore Pythagorean Theorem.

  • Explore rigid transformations of figures, including translations, rotations, and reflections.
